NISMAH OSMAN

Heyyo!

I'm Nismah.

I'm a songwriter, producer, vocalist, entrepreneur, feminist, and more. Since 2005 I've been writing + producing songs for myself, other artists, and for sync.

I stumbled into the world of selling my music for film & tv in 2011 and since then I've cracked the code on how to fund your passion for music! :)

I've gotten my music featured in some of the world's most watched series like:

  • Love is Blind

  • Dancing with the Stars

  • Temptation Island

Some of my other wins include a ~fancy~ degree from Berklee, songwriting and production credits on hundreds of songs for multiple artists, a chance to learn from songwriting legend Kara DioGuardi, and some other cool stuff, plus hopefully more to come. :)

I also co-own and run a vacation rental business on the Jersey Shore as a side hustle.

PORTFOLIO + credentials

The proof is in the pudding, right?

Check out some of my experience, education, and recent wins.

"I wanted to say thank you for doing this and I found your [sync] presentation super helpful!"

Beth W.

"Nismah had a fantastic way of cutting down to the meat of the issues surrounding pursuing sync licensing.  She is extremely organized, knowledgeable and direct with her approach which for someone like me who has been in music my entire life, is very valuable and appreciated.  It’s hard to find a teacher that recognizes the artistic subtleties of the art form of sync while also simultaneously demonstrating a successful understanding of the business side as well. She is simply amazing at demystifying the pursuit and incredibly encouraging as well.  Nismah is a great coach and I look forward to working with her lots more in the future!"

Mike L.

“I really enjoy learning from Nismah. She helped me gain tons of clarity about what next steps to take and I've never been more excited to make music!”

I got to study with many legendary music industry players, including Bonnie Hayes (Cher, Bette Midler, David Crosby, Bonnie Raitt), John Aldrich (Touched By an Angel, The Young and the Restless, and Beverly Hills 90210), Ben Camp (Bryce Fox, Victoria Justice, Seven Lions, and Tiesto), and more.

Kara DioGuardi Bootcamp

In 2018 I had the exciting opportunity to study with songwriting legend Kara DioGuardi (P!nk, Jason Derulo, Kelly Clarkson, etc.) at the Berklee PowerStation in NYC. We wrote and work-shopped songs for 12 hours a day over the weekend. We also received mentorship from brother duo The XI (pro. The Eleven) (Jennifer Lopez).

Placements

I've been writing music for sync since 2016. Some highlights and recent placements are featured below.

NOTABLE MENTIONS

Placements on: E! News, Tia and Tamara, OWN Network, Little People Big World, All American (CW),  NCIS, GOLF NOW, Hollywood Houselift, Working the Engels, NASCAR, Texas Bucket List, and more.

METHOD

I believe that the greatest songs demonstrate a balanced combination of good technique, creative authenticity, and magic. :) We deliver this delicious combo via the vehicles of intentional lyrics, interesting melodies, and unique concepts.

Lyric

I take an intentional approach to lyric-writing. To me, the best lyrics are perfectly clear while being anything but obvious. I think writers like Julia Michaels, John Mayer and Taylor Swift do this well.

Melody

Melody, melody, melody! If lyrics are the limbs, mouth, and features, melodies are the bones of your song. Without strong and unique melodies, nothing else holds up.

Concept

Your concept is your North Star. A great concept is the framework via which you'll say something that's already been said in a completely new way. The concept is the heart of the song.
